Historic St. John's Episcopal Church in the Tower Grove neighborhood of St. Louis is a reflection of the diverse population it serves. That sense of community drives the parish in all its ministries. Ed Hanson from Calvary Church in Columbia shares his fascination of how tunes and texts get matched together and challenges us to have a little creative fun with meters. Registration is now open for our June 11 session of Requiem or Renaissance. This session is for Cohort #2. As followers of Jesus, we are called to be a people who seek peace, act for justice, and abide in hope. My prayer is that we will not simply offer thoughts and prayers at this tragic loss, but that we will seek to transform our political landscape from inaction to action, from offering condolences to offering concrete solutions to the evil of gun violence in our nation. David Sinden from St. Peter's in Ladue brings us a hymn that begins with a stark contrast between two crowns: one of cruelty and suffering versus one of heavenly exaltation. Thirteen parishes within the Emery Washington Convocation (in and around the city of St. Louis) have partnered together to raise $13,000, which will cancel $1.3 million of medical debt. And now they are inviting all parishes and members throughout the Diocese to join their effort. Grace Episcopal Church sits in the center of an historic neighborhood in Kirkwood, a suburb just west of the City of St. Louis. The church's giant A-frame structure and steeple soar into the treetops, creating an easily recognizable landmark in this family-centered community. Bishop Deon Johnson offers this statement and prayer following a mass shooting that took the lives of 10 people in Buffalo, NY, on May 14, 2022. The Archbishop of Canterbury invites us to devote Trinity Sunday (June 12) as a day of prayer for the upcoming Lambeth Conference. The Rt. Rev. Deon K. Johnson will join the congregation of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church on Sunday, May 22, 2022, to mark a transition in the worship life of the Florissant parish.
