Women's Ministry

Over the past 50 years, the Episcopal Church has moved from excluding women altogether from ordained ministry to women having held the highest ordained leadership position—Presiding Bishop.*
Both lay and ordained women play a vital role in the mission and ministry of the Diocese of Missouri. In 2022 we have more women than men serving as clergy. And you will find women in leadership positions throughout all our parishes in the Diocese.
Since his ordination as the Bishop of the Diocese of Missouri, the Rt. Rev. Deon Johnson has been intentional in honoring women's ministry. We have organized special projects to feature prominent women and have held special worship services to celebrate the role women play in our church. Click these links for details:
