The Presiding Officer shall add to the ballot the names of persons so nominated.
If you would like to submit a nomination, please follow ALL directions below, PLUS you will need a written petition signed by at least five (5) voting members of convention plus the written consent of the nominee.

The Diocese of Missouri depends on the leadership of lay and clergy members who are elected each year at diocesan convention.
The nominating committee, which is appointed by the bishop, is in charge of collecting the nominations and presenting them to the Diocese during convention. We encourage participation from all areas of our diocese in this process.
All nominations must be received by Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022. Each nomination requires 3 elements:
- Nomination form (digital form available below)
- Paragraph by the nominee (300 words or less) stating why they would be a good candidate for this ministry
- A recent head-and-shoulders photo of the nominee
The paragraph and photo should be emailed to [email protected]. All elements of the nomination must be received by Wednesday, Sept. 28.
Here are the positions to be elected at the 183rd Convention of the Diocese of Missouri in 2022:
- Standing Committee
Electing 1 clergy member and 2 lay members for 4-year terms
The Standing Committee functions as the council of advice to the Bishop. It is a visioning group for the diocese; certifies candidates for ordination in the diocese; votes on consent to the election, ordination, and consecration of bishops churchwide; and may serve as the ecclesiastical authority for the diocese in the absence of a bishop. (meets monthly) - Diocesan Council
Electing 2 lay members for 3-year terms
The Diocesan Council does the work of the Diocesan Convention when Convention is not in session, including development of the program budget; oversight of the programs and offices funded by the budget; and oversight and interpretation of diocesan policies. Members of this committee also serve as members of COEDMO, the Corporation of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri. (meets approximately every other month) - Disciplinary Board
Electing 1 clergy member and 1 lay member for 3-year terms
The Disciplinary Board exists to help in cases where clergy have been presented with charges under the Ecclesiastical Disciplinary Canons (Title IV) of the Canons of The Episcopal Church. (meets once a year and as needed) - General Convention Deputies
Electing 4 clergy members and 4 lay members (and 4 alternates each)
Deputies will represent the Diocese of Missouri at the General Convention of the Episcopal Church in 2024. Deputies also meet several times in advance of GC to review proposed legislation. Some deputies also serve on GC committees. - Cathedral Chapter
Electing 1 lay member from St. Louis City/County for 3-year term
Cathedral Chapter is similar to the Vestry of a parish, but because the Cathedral is the Bishop’s seat and the “mother church” for the diocese, its leadership is made up of clergy and lay members from throughout the diocese as well as its own congregation.
