Survey from the Gathering Space Task Force
(posted Jan. 20, 2023)
Dear members of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri,
At the end of 2021 Bishop Deon formed a task force to discern whether to pursue creating a space for the Diocese to gather together for shared ministry, formation, recreation, and fun.
During the Diocesan Convention this past November, the Gathering Space Task Force hosted a table conversation about how a shared space might support our faith communities in their mission and ministries, as well as how we might use this space to serve the wider community. We collected comments from Convention delegates and are now sorting through them to find common themes and priorities.
In order to hear more voices across the Diocese, we ask that you please complete the attached survey before the end of January to share your experience and thoughts about a shared gathering space. Each member of the household may complete a separate survey.
Once the team collects the survey responses, we will combine them with the Convention comments and other information collected through interviews to determine what ideas we need to research and study further for the next phase of the Task Force's work.
Thank you in advance for participating. We will offer updates on our work throughout the year, and our goal is to make a recommendation to the next Diocesan Convention in November 2023.
With gratitude,
The Rev. Andrew Archie, Betty Bowersox, and the Rev. Kevin McGrane
Co-leaders, Gathering Space Task Force
