Sing at the 2024 Absalom Jones Celebration
We are looking for people from throughout the Diocese to lend their voices to our special Gospel Choir at the 2024 Absalom Jones Celebration.
Absalom Jones was the first Black priest ordained in the Episcopal Church. The Diocesan Dismantling Racism Commission hosts a special service and event each year to celebrate Jones' life and ministry.
This year's Absalom Jones Celebration will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Creve Coeur. Harry Moppins from the Episcopal Church of St. Michael & St. George will be directing the choir.
Harry is calling two rehearsals to prepare for the event:
- Saturday, Jan. 27
10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
The Episcopal Church of St. Michael & St. George
6345 Wydown Blvd., Clayton - Saturday, Feb. 3
Time and Location TBA
We ask all choir members to attend at least one of those in-person rehearsals.
The songs for the celebration are:
- City Called Heaven, arr. Josephine Poelintz
- I Am His Child, by Moses Hogan
Sheet music will be available at the Jan. 27 rehearsal.
If you love to sing, plan to be a part of this uplifting event! Please fill out the form below to join the choir!
