March 9: Thursday in the Second Week of Lent
Read
Psalm 1 | They are like trees planted by streams of water, bearing fruit in due season, with leaves that do not wither; everything they do shall prosper.
Pray
In the space between the trees,
Where the ancient wind blows,
Where the butterflies play,
Where the fragrance of remembering lingers.
In the space between the trees,
Where the lavender grows,
Where the blackbirds dance,
Where time flows slowly by.
In the space between the trees,
In the sacred grove of eternity,
In the ancient forests of earth,
May we smell and remember,
The fragrance of Divine love,
That first called us at our birth. Amen.
Reflect
There is something mystical among trees. These silent sentinels who stand watch through time. They call us towards a changelessness that is hard to find and even harder to hold.
God promises that we will be like trees, planted by springs of water, finding everything we need, dwelling at peace with each other and the world. Perhaps our call on this side of eternity is to spend some time with the trees, listening to the whisper of God among the leaves.
Do
Take a long walk and listen to the music of the trees.
