March 7: Tuesday in the Second Week of Lent
Read
Matthew 23:1–12 | All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted.
Pray
Walk together in love,
Walk joyfully in hope,
Walk purposefully in faith.
Walk diligently in peace,
Walk intimately in grace,
Walk triumphantly in prayer.
Walk humbly with your God,
And may God bless you and keep you,
May God hold you and carry you,
May God shepherd and companion you
Every step of the way. Walk tall in God! Amen!
Reflect
One of my favorite theologians and philosophers, Kermit the Frog, once said, “Yeah I got a dream, too, but it’s about singing and dancing and making people happy. That’s the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share it with.” I think he’s right!
We who follow Jesus know that is never a bad time to stand up for what is right, to share the Good News that God’s dream, because that’s the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share it with.
How do we tell the dream? How do we live the dream? We follow Jesus! We follow the one who commanded us to, “love one another as I have loved you.” We love! When the powers that be account us as nothing, love them anyway. When they tell us that we can’t change the world, that dreams don’t make a difference, love them anyway. When they try to discredit us and ignore us and speak against us, love them anyway!
Do
Pray for someone with whom you disagree.
