March 5: The Second Sunday in Lent
Prayer changes things.
Prayer is perhaps the most powerful, persistent, and pervasive thing humanity has ever discovered after love. Prayer is the yearning of the heart, the deep calling of the soul towards completion with God.
Prayer is the life’s blood that connects us to each other and the Divine. Prayer is the music of the hymns sung by a grandmother, and a quickly whispered, “thank you” for a good parking spot.
Our world needs prayer. Our church needs prayer. Jesus, as he gathered at the table with his disciples, prayed for them and for us. “A new commandment I give you that you should love one another as I have loved you.”
Jesus prays for each one of us and all the other faithful people who have gone before, we need to be faithful in prayer, now more than ever.
