March 31: Friday in the Fifth Week of Lent
Read
Psalm 18 | I love you, O Lord my strength, O Lord my stronghold, my crag, and my haven. My God, my rock in whom I put my trust, my shield, the horn of my salvation, and my refuge; you are worthy of praise.
Pray
I need your strength,
let me walk in your path of hope today.
I need your courage,
let me walk in your way of peace today.
I need your wisdom,
let me walk in your footsteps of love today.
I need your patience,
let me walk in your places of calm today.
I need your persistence,
let me walk in your precepts of grace today.
I need you, Holy One of blessing,
let me not stray from you today. Amen.
Reflect
Where do we find a dwelling place?
The psalmist reminds us often that God is our place of dwelling. God is, according to the psalms, our refuge, strength, stronghold, rock, crag, haven, shield, shepherd, hope, dwelling, port, to name a few. The list of names for dwelling places with God is long but they are all safe havens for us to be fully present with the Divine in times of tribulation.
Where do you feel at-rest with God? Where is that place of safety, hope, and joy where you can simply dwell with God? Perhaps the dwelling place may not be a place, but a person. May you find your safe-harbor and dwell in the love of God.
