March 29: Wednesday in the Fifth Week of Lent
Read
John 8:31–42 | Jesus said, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
Pray
Divine Mystery,
Teach me to trust
My heart when it breaks,
My mind when it is foggy,
My intuition when things are lost,
My friends when it is lonely,
My body when it is in pain.
Teach me to trust these things,
So that I may love beyond fear,
That I may hope beyond sight,
That I may sing beyond despair.
Help me to dance in harmony with you, that I may find balance within and without; Make these word more than words,
and lead me to your heart of grace. Amen.
Reflect
Where is truth?
Jesus in his ministry often told a word of truth. Jesus relentlessly showed the truth of God’s love for those especially who had been left out, left behind, or left for naught. The bulk of Jesus’ ministry on earth was not so much about miracles, but about seeking and seeing the truth in the people he encountered.
Like Jesus’ time, we live in a world filled with willful blindness. We can choose not to see our siblings in the world and not to recognize their presence, but in Jesus we are given new sight in speaking truth. To see is to experience truth, and the truth will always set us free.
Do
Read a book of the Bible.
