March 13: Monday in the Third Week of Lent
Read
Psalm 42 | As the deer longs for the water-brooks, so longs my soul for you, O God. My soul is athirst for God, athirst for the living God; when shall I come to appear before the presence of God?
Pray
Divine Weaver,
You knit us together on the loom of love,
You bind us one to another by grace,
You braid us with the stands of hope.
Weave us together.
In our discord and disunity,
In our division and disagreement,
In our difference and dissension,
Weave us together.
Open our eyes to the mystery of our common life,
Help us to realize our shared purpose,
Show us our interdependent humanity.
Weave us together in Christ. Amen.
Reflect
St. Augustine once reminded us, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.”
Our hearts are pulled and prodded in many directions in our modern world. There seems always to be something to do, more work to be done, and not enough time. Yet God calls us to recognize that the stuff of our busyness is not what defines us. Those things that make our hearts sing, that quicken our pulses, that excites us are a part of the restlessness and rest in the Holy One.
Do
Spend some time today doing something that makes your heart sing.
