March 10: Friday in the Second Week of Lent
Read
Genesis 37:3–4,12–28 | Here come this dreamer.
Pray
Holy and Immortal One,
Your Divine imagination soared at creation,
Your wings of love unfolded over the cosmos,
Your laughter of hope fills the whole world.
So use our imagination that we may dare
to dream of a world transformed.
So enfold us in love that we may seek
and see stranger and friend.
So shower us with hope, that we may embrace
a vision far beyond sight.
Help us to be confident, courageous, and caring
for the facing of this hour; for Love’s liberating legacy. Amen.
Reflect
What do we do with dreams?
Throughout Scripture God has spoken to God’s people in dreams. Dreams allow the hearer to listen intently to God’s call and command. But aside from God speaking through dreams, god seems to have an affinity for dreamers.
The most remembered biblical dreamer was Joseph. Joseph not only had vivid dreams but he could interpret dreams and in the process saved the people of God from a time of famine.
Like Joseph we too have dreams. As children we let our imaginations soar to great heights. But at some point someone tells us to stop dreaming. We are told that dreams are irrelevant and that they don’t matter. But God invites us to be dreamers, inspired to do the deep work of transformation. What dreams have you let go of that God might be calling you back into?
Do
Take a nap. Day dream. Let you imagination soar today.
