Journey Through Advent: Monday, Nov. 29, 2021

Today's Readings:
Psalm 122; Isaiah 2:1-5; Matthew 8:5-13
In Psalm 122, the Psalmist writes “Peace be within your walls and quietness within your towers.” These are words to think about during this Season of Advent as we reflect on our months of isolation, fear of disease, loss of loved ones and political unrest. Still, there is hope of better things to come.
Many look forward to this season of preparation for the birth of Christ – a new beginning. Or, is it Santa Claus’ arrival? Do our own wants and needs come before we remember the “Reason for the Season?”
My mother always told me “It is darkest before the dawn.” Although she didn’t coin the phrase, she was right! Light will shine upon us when we put our faith in God through prayer. Presiding Bishop Curry says it best: “If it isn’t about love, it isn’t about God." During this Season and beyond, let us put our trust and faith in His love through our prayers and renew our discipleship to God. Remember: “Come, let us walk in the light of the Lord.” (Isaiah 2:5)
Holy One, quiet our minds and fill our hearts with your Love. Amen.
