Feb. 24: Friday after Ash Wednesday
Read
Isaiah 58:1–9a | Then your light shall break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up quickly.
Pray
Still-speaking God,
You call to us in chaos and confusion,
You speak to us through angels and activists,
You are heard in whisper and wailing,
You lovingly long for us to discern your voice.
We ignore your still small voice,
We listen to the language of the world,
We seek our will and not yours.
Help us in noise of the world to hear you speaking.
Tune our hearts to recognize your voice,
Turn our ears to listen to your whispers,
Transform our willfulness in to holy hearing;
Then use us we pray for the healing of the world;
through Jesus the Anointed One. Amen.
Reflect
Hardships and hurts are a part of life. Desolation and consolation are the rhythms of our lives. Yet in the hurts that we carry, the hardships that we endure, the harm that we experience we know that God is our refuge and our strength and that healing and wholeness is God’s will for each one of us.
Healing does not take our woundedness away. Our scars, like Jesus’ scars, are the evidence that God is always working in, on, and through us to bring holy healing to the places of harm.
What might you need to let God’s grace heal today?
