Campus Ministry for Asian Students
Leaders and members of Faith Christian Church of India are reaching beyond their church walls in Ballwin to serve international students in Cape Girardeau, Rolla, and the St. Louis area.
The Rev. Clive Samson says FCCI's outreach on university campuses provides a presence, helps students, and provides care, but their ultimate goal is to start worshiping communities for international students on the campuses they visit.
"I see the need there," said Clive. "I see people are there, so why don’t we do something?"
Most of our existing campus ministries throughout the Diocese of Missouri serve mainly English-speaking students. FCCI's ministry is focusing on international students. And that usually means not worshiping in traditional "Episcopal" surroundings.
"Instead of having worship in an Episcopal Church, I’m finding a common place where everyone can identify with their traditions. We have a mixed, diverse community led by Asians, serving all Asians," explained Clive.
Clive says the FCCI Campus Outreach Ministry is planning student events around Asian festivals, like Deepawali, India's biggest and most important holiday of the year (also known as Diwali). The festival of lights is celebrated on November 12, 2023.
