A Journey Through Advent: Sunday, Dec. 5
by the Rev. Annette Joseph, Regional Missioner

Today's readings: Canticle 4 or 16; Malachi 3:1-4; Luke 3:1-6
Speechless
Speechless,
Astounded by good news,
When all around us is bad.
Speechless,
Cause we can’t believe in love,
Cause we don’t see how to encourage.
Speechless,
For the goodness You still give,
When we can’t find reason to hope.
Speechless,
Cause we fear, instead of trust,
We doubt, instead of believe.
Speechless,
For it is more convenient to wait
Without words in darkness.
Speechless,
Until you touch our tongues,
Loosen our lips and open our eyes.
Speechless,
Until we see the gift born
Amidst all doubt and fear.
Speechless,
Until angels sing, telling the tale,
We are not forgotten, we are loved.
Based on the story from Luke 1:5-23; 57-79 and part of Canticle 4
