Deon Kevin Johnson was born November 8, 1977. He grew up with his mother and grandmother in Church Village in the parish of Saint Phillip in Barbados. At the age of 14, he and his older brother immigrated to New York to attend high school and live with their father and step-mother. He has citizenship in both the United States and Barbados.

Bishop-elect Deon is married to Jhovanny Osorio. The couple has two children: Lilohalani, age 10, and Ja’Lon, age 8. The happy family also has two dogs and three chickens. He loves the outdoors, good conversation and good food.

Since moving to the St. Louis area in late February, Bishop-elect Deon says he and his family have been enjoying Midwest hospitality. From gifts of gooey butter cake from his new neighbors to engaging Zoom conversations throughout the diocese, the Johnson family is settling into their new home.

“I’ve lived in a lot of places,” Bishop-elect Deon said, “but I’ve never been anywhere so friendly and welcoming and warm.”
