Updated April 25

We were supposed to be ordaining our 11th bishop on April 25.

Our 10th bishop was supposed to (fully) retire at the end of the month.

All that changed with COVID-19. But we're not letting the date go by without finding cause for celebration!

Bishop Wayne Smith and Bishop-elect Deon Johnson sat down (from their respective homes) for an intimate and lively discussion of ordination, retirement, and life as the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri.

Along with asking each other questions, they also took questions from the 94 participants in the April 25 webinar.

Watch the video below as we honor Bishop #10 and welcome Bishop #11!

Bishop-elect Deon's new ordination date is set for June 13. The event will be greatly scaled-down from our original plans, depending on the health situation at that date. More information will be announced as decisions are made.

Bishop Wayne will still be retiring at the end of April, with Bishop-elect Deon taking over the day-to-day duties. Bishop Wayne will continue to serve on a contract basis to handle the canonical and sacramental responsibilities of our diocese until the June 13 ordination.
