Communications Ministry Updates for 2020

We have a lot of good news to proclaim in the Diocese of Missouri as we ring in the new year. Whether we’re planning for the ordination of our new bishop, designing a new website or inviting visitors to a Sunday morning worship service, our job as church communicators has never been more important -- or more fun!

I am excited to be serving as the communications director for the Diocese. Here’s a quick look at what you can expect from our diocesan communications ministry in 2020:


Communications Team: 

We are forming a new collaboration throughout the diocese in 2020. My goal is to create a network for sharing ideas, solving problems and spreading the good news.

  • Do you need assistance with your parish or ministry communications?

  • Do you have expertise in a particular area of communications? 

  • Do you have an interest in improving parish and diocesan communications?

  • Contact Janis to be a part of the communications team.

Our next communications team meeting will be January 11, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at Holy Communion Episcopal Church in University City. You are welcome to attend this meeting in person or online in a Zoom conference. (Details coming soon.)


Parish Visits:

I would like to get to know all our parishes and organizations better this year so I can better serve your communications needs. I will be reaching out to set up a time to meet with rectors, parish communicators or anyone who wants to chat about your communications goals and strategies. Also, please feel free to invite me to any special events you host. I love taking pictures and writing stories… and just being a part of awesome church families! I will do my best to attend as many events in the diocese as possible.

Individuals and parishes are encouraged to submit items for publication in our quarterly newsletter. Here are the dates and deadlines for our diocesan printed newsletter for 2020:

We will be updating the look and contents of our diocesan website this year. Our goal is for the website to serve as a “welcome mat” for those looking for a church home as well as a resource for our parishes and ministry leaders throughout the diocese. Our diocesan calendar can be a wonderful resource to find out what’s happening around the diocese. It can also be a great way to invite others to your special events.
