Out of the blue on Nov. 5, the Bishop's Transition Committee received the following email from Sasa Emmanuel James in our companion diocese of Lui in South Sudan offering congratulations, prayers and support for our bishop election. We thought you'd want to see it, including a follow-up reply on Nov. 16. This is lightly edited for clarity:

This is a great achievement of your diocese to elect new leader to lead the future Anglican mission. I am very happy to see update every day as a member from Lui Diocese. I pray for you so that you choose the right person to move our Christian  church forward. May God bless you all.

I have been friends with the diocese since 2014 when am still in campus in Uganda — and even this diocese was partners with our Diocese of Lui in South Sudan. I am a member of the centenary committee, which takes place in Lui Dec. 20, 2020. We are organizing for that day to come, so pray for us, too, as I am praying for you.

May our Lord protect both dioceses so that we can pray together. Amen

The transition committee has replied to assure Sasa Emmanuel James that we are praying for the Diocese of Lui and South Sudan.
