The top applicants to become the 11th Bishop of Missouri are coming to our diocese for a retreat Sept. 16-19. And when the retreat is over, they'll be taking a little of the diocese back home with them.

Early in the search process, the Search Committee asked all our parishes to donate small gifts to give the applicants. Committee Chairperson Debbie Nelson-Linck has gathered all the gifts and created lovely "swag bags" to give to each applicant attending the retreat.

"Each bag is full of treasures!" Debbie said. Those treasures include mugs, key chains, necklaces, DVDs and even children's artwork. Each applicant will receive an identical bag. The gifts are intended to thank the priests for being involved in this process with us and to serve as a reminder of our diocese.

Debbie and all the committee members are grateful to the parishes for supplying the gifts that are literally stuffing the bags. She said this is one of the many details that have made working on the search committee such a joyful process.
