Bishop search update: Schedule to meet candidates
An important milestone in the search for the 11th bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri will be the opportunity for members of the diocese to meet candidates for the position. These meetings, often referred to as "walkabouts," are now scheduled at four parishes in various parts of the diocese in order to attract individuals from the surrounding areas.
Once the slate of bishop candidates is announced publicly—likely on Sept. 30—arrangements will be made for the candidates to visit the four parishes where they can speak about their vision for the diocese and answer some questions from members of the diocese.
These bishop candidate meetings are all scheduled to happen in the same week on the following dates:
- Nov. 4 at Christ Church, Cape Girardeau
- Nov. 5 at Trinity, Central West End
- Nov. 6 at Calvary, Columbia
- Nov. 7 at St. Timothy’s, Creve Coeur
Once the slate has been announced, the starting times at each location will be confirmed, but they are tentatively set for 6 p.m. The bishop's transition committee for the diocese will work with the four locations to adjust the format based on the number of candidates and the configuration of the church buildings. Stay tuned for more information.
Convention delegates will elect the 11th bishop on the second day of the diocesan convention, Nov. 23.
