Bishop Smith Appoints New Communications Director
Bishop Wayne Smith is pleased to announce the appointment of Janis Greenbaum as the Communications Director for the Diocese of Missouri. She will begin her duties August 26.*
Janis comes to this position with many years of paid and volunteer experience in this diocese. She has served as the Director of Christian Formation and Communications at Grace Church in Kirkwood since 2011. Before that, she held the same position for five years at St. Martin’s in Ellisville. She also serves as a member of the Dismantling Racism Commission and previously served as a board member for the Episcopal School for Ministry. Before her work with the church, Janis was a television news producer and freelance journalist.
“I am very excited to be a part of the big changes happening in our diocese,” Janis said. “It’s so important for everyone to stay informed and know they have a voice in the bishop search process as well as our ongoing ministries. I hope to be a positive communications resource to Bishop Smith, our new bishop, and all members of this diocese.”
Janis holds a Master of Arts degree in public affairs reporting from the University of Illinois in Springfield. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. She and her husband Kurt have lived in the St. Louis area since 2002. They have two grown children, Sarah and Matthew.
