God of all mercy, who weeps with us as we anguish over lives broken and lost to the gun violence which so pains our community: Open our ears that we might hear their cries; open our eyes that we might see their fears; open our hearts that we might embrace them in love; and open our arms that we might protect them from all harm; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Rev. Marc Smith, Bishop's Deputy for Gun Violence Prevention, has authored A Litany for Victims of Gun Violence, available online here. (The above text is its concluding collect.)

The "March for our Lives" in St. Louis (from Union Station to the Arch) is scheduled for 10 am - noon on Saturday, March 24. It's one of the many local marches across the country in sync with the march on the National Mall in Washington, DC, and organized by young people who are calling for an end to gun violence in our schools, communities, and nation.

Diocesan youth missioner the Rev. Loren Lasch, the Diocesan Youth Advisory Council, and Provost Kathie Adams-Shepherd are organizing a prayer vigil to precede the march, at 9 am that Saturday at Christ Church Cathedral. This will be youth-led.

Loren writes, "Please be sure to let parents know that children/youth who are attending need to be with a parent/guardian/designated adult leader. If you would like to bring a group of young people, I am happy to send you a sample permission/medical form. Please do not hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions!" Her email address is LLasch@DioceseMO.org or office phone 314-255-1383.
