From Anne Outwater: • Creation is a gift from God: Uumbaji ni zawadi kutoka kwa Mungu. • We are called to care for and manage it responsibly: Sisi tumeitwa kuitunza na kuisimamia pamoja na kuwajibika. • Care for creation is connected to the care of each of us human beings: Kutunza uumbaji ni muunganiko wa utunzaji wa kila binadamu. How can we do this? Tutafanyaje hivyo? This story started with Rev. Anderson Madimilo of Mpwapwa, Tanzania who was sent to Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis for his Master degree. His supervisor was Rev. Daniel Daniel J Handschy. Together they designed a seminar around the creation story for the pastors of Mpwapwa.Rev. Pamela Dolan was also part of the team, having been assigned by the Bishop of St. Louis who supported this project. I spent last week as a part of that seminar in Mpwapwa Region, along with 140 pastors from 2 districts of Mpwapwa. My contributions were sessions on Nutrition, Improving Quality of Life with Trees, Rainwater Collection, and Beekeeping. Rev. Pamela said, “The Holy Spirit is all over the place.” It felt like that. From Anne Outwater: Photo: The walk from the Ark Hotel to the Livestock Training Center (where the seminar took place) was about half an hour. It was through hills that were once forested with valuable timber trees. It is the dry season, and the River was deep dry sand except for a few points where the sand had been dug away and water was being collected. There was also a tap at a public well, but the wait was long.

From Anne Outwater: I think it was Stephen Ngailloh who told me that it was a place where the English had fought the Arabs to stop the slave trade, and then built the Theological Seminary on it. If I am remembering what he told me...Lot of suffering has passed through this town.

From Anne Outwater: The pastor on the right wanted his photo with me and the Reverend Dean. I’m wearing the dress given to me at the end of the Conference.

From Anne Outwater: 140 Anglican Pastors from 2 districts in Mpwapwa Region met to discuss the creation and our role in caring for it.
