Men's Ministry to Caregivers and Widowers

The diocesan members of the Anglican Order of Preachers (Dominicans) offer a ministry serving men who are full-time caregivers or those who have lost a spouse. This ministry is led by Br. Michael K. Burroughs, OP, who says the focus is compassionate and practical companioning to men in these extreme situations. Br. Michael is the author of Moving Mountains: Facing Strokes with Faith and Hope (Amazon) (Amazon).

Br. Michael served as his wife, Jan’s, full-time caregiver during her year-long rehabilitation from a car crash in 2018 followed by three strokes she suffered in 2019. She passed away from a fourth stroke in 2021. He says he would have greatly benefited from both ministries he now leads.

Br. Michael is a Board Certified Coach (BCC) with 12 years of global executive coaching experience. He is a graduate of the Education for Ministry (EfM) program through the University of the South’s School of Theology. For several years he served as an EfM mentor and as the diocesan coordinator for the program. In 2001 he retired from the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps as a colonel, and later retired from the corporate world in 2018 to care for his wife.

Text or call Br. Michael at 314-341-1139 or email him at [email protected] to arrange for this ministry.

Approximately 10,000 people throughout Eastern and Central Missouri find their faith home with us. About three-quarters of our members are in the metro St. Louis area, but our diocese reaches much farther than St. Louis. You will find more than 40 Episcopal churches, missions and faith communities as far north as Kirksville, as far west as Columbia, and as far south as Poplar Bluff (and many points in between).

If you are looking for a church home or a just a faith community to visit, we invite you to explore The Episcopal Diocese of Missouri.
