Trinity Food Ministry Awarded UTO Grant
United Thank Offering announced the grant recipients for the Spring 2021 granting cycle, and we are excited to share that the Diocese of Missouri will receive $11,300 for Sustaining: Trinity Food Ministry in COVID-19 Times.
Trinity Food Ministry is a ministry of Trinity Episcopal Church in St. Louis' Central West End. Their mission is "being as Christ in the midst of the people." In 2019, this ministry provided groceries for 9,500 individuals, which equals 3,800 households; served 7,500 meals on weekdays; and served more than 4,600 people through their Sunday Hot Lunch.
This grant will help Trinity Food Ministry continue to feed the hungry in our community throughout these difficult pandemic times.
“Choosing which grant applications to fund and not fund is always difficult, but during this extraordinary time of suffering in the global Covid-19 pandemic we had to prioritize mere survival over thriving. As always, if we’d had more money to grant, we would have been delighted to fund more the excellent grant projects submitted, so please continue to be thankful and make your thank offerings to UTO.” Shared Sherri Dietrich, UTO Board President.
The Diocese of Missouri is very proud of the work happening through this ministry for our community and very pleased to accept this financial award.
United Thank Offering Funding
Every penny given to the United Thank Offering is given away the following year to support innovative mission and ministry in the Episcopal Church. Through the gratitude and generosity of those who contributed through Blue Box donations, UTO awarded over $400,000 in grants during the second round of grants to address the pandemic.
