The Rev. Michaelene Miller to become Associate Rector at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Little Rock, Arkansas
The Rev. Michaelene Miller, who has served on the Bishop's staff as Director of Deaconess Anne House for the past three years, has accepted a call to become the Associate Rector at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.
"I feel a strong pull back into the parish setting, back to the rhythms and full expression of the liturgical calendar, back into an intergenerational setting," Miller said. "This move to Little Rock is also a return to community, both within and beyond the Episcopal Church, and a move closer to family."
Miller is originally from Arkansas. She came to the Diocese of Missouri as a Deaconess Anne House corps member in 2013-2014 -- its first year of operation. She went back to her home state to serve as the Youth and Children's Minister and Communications Publicist at St. Margaret's in Little Rock in 2014-2015. She went on to earn a Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary and was ordained in 2018. She returned to the Diocese of Missouri in 2019 to serve as Director of DAH.
"The last three years of serving the Diocese of Missouri and the young adults of the Deaconess Anne House have been blessed and holy, even through the challenges of a pandemic. There has been a lot of growth and a lot of help," Miller said. "As an alumna of the Deaconess Anne House, I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve this program as the Director. It was at DAH where I began to learn what it meant to live fully as a Christian and how to follow God's call to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly (Micah 6:8). It was a gift to walk alongside the young adults of Deaconess Anne House as they discerned their calls and discovered their own truths throughout their year of learning how to live intentionally in a Christian community. My prayers and support for DAH continue as the program evolves to meet the emerging needs of this new generation of young adults."
Miller's last day in the Diocese of Missouri will be August 2. Please join Bishop Deon Johnson and everyone on the Diocesan staff in wishing all the best to our friend and faithful servant as she moves on to her next adventure!
