Strategic Visioning Update: August 30

The Diocesan Strategic Visioning Committee is putting the final touches on a report to be presented to Diocesan Council at the Council’s September 11 meeting. That report will outline recommended goals and initiatives that will guide The Episcopal Diocese of Missouri for the next five years.
The Strategic Visioning Committee* began their work in January, 2021. The group has reimagined our mission and vision statements (to be released soon), interviewed people across the diocese, examined the information gathered through the Bishop’s Search process of 2019, and reviewed the work from the Re-imagining the Church Task Force in 2020.
After analyzing these sources of information, the group established five areas of focus and formed working groups to develop and research initiatives. Those focus groups are:
- Communication and Technology
- Community building and Structure
- Evangelism and Justice
- Formation and Worship
- Pastoral Care and Stewardship
The report will feature 29 recommended initiatives. The initiatives will be presented under goals that match up with our new mission statement. Each initiative will include a suggested priority, next steps, and a timeline for implementation.
Diocesan Council members will receive this report the week before their September 11 meeting to review. The Strategic Visioning Committee will attend that meeting to answer questions from the Council. And then Council members will consider how to move forward with the report.
