Prayers for General Convention

Episcopalians from around the world -- including 11 from the Diocese of Missouri -- will gather in Baltimore, July 8-11, 2022, for the 80th General Convention of The Episcopal Church.

We invite your prayers for the convention and for our lay and clergy members representing our diocese. Betty Bowersox, a General Convention Deputy from Grace Church in Kirkwood, wrote these prayers to share in the Diocese:

FOR SUNDAY JULY 3

Loving and Gracious God, we ask that you watch over and bless Tamsen, Betty, Leslie, Michael, Todd, Liz, Shug, Adrienne, Doris, Patricia and Deon, who will all be traveling this week to Baltimore to attend the General Convention of the Episcopal Church on behalf of our Diocese. Please keep them safe and healthy. Give them wisdom, guidance, courage and strength in their deliberations. And help them make thoughtful and wise decisions for the good of all those who have placed their trust and confidence in them for the governance of our Episcopal Church. AMEN.

FOR SUNDAY JULY 10

Gracious Lord, we ask that you continue to be with Tamsen, Betty, Leslie, Michael, Todd, Liz, Shug, Adrienne, Doris, Patricia, Deon, and all of the other Deputies and Bishops that are at the 80th General Convention of the Episcopal Church in Baltimore. Be in their hearts, minds, and souls while they continue to evaluate, with integrity and love, the Resolutions and issues put before them. Fill them with your Holy Spirit as they complete their last two days of Legislation, and keep them safe as they return home. AMEN.

Approximately 10,000 people throughout Eastern and Central Missouri find their faith home with us. About three-quarters of our members are in the metro St. Louis area, but our diocese reaches much farther than St. Louis. You will find more than 40 Episcopal churches, missions and faith communities as far north as Kirksville, as far west as Columbia, and as far south as Poplar Bluff (and many points in between).

If you are looking for a church home or a just a faith community to visit, we invite you to explore The Episcopal Diocese of Missouri.
