National Episcopal Church Women News

March 10, 2023

The National Episcopal Church Women (NECW) board met in Phoenix, Arizona, February 16-20, 2023. Jan Goossens attended the meeting as a representative of Province V.

Here are a few news items from that meeting:

  • Service Project
The NECW board voted to host a year-long service project supporting the Diocese of West Texas' Immigration & Refugee Ministry. Plaza de Paz Respite Center is located in San Antonio and provides daytime welcoming services for families and individuals seeking asylum. Services provided include meals, assistance with travel arrangements, personal hygiene care, emergency housing, and transportation within Bexar County to the airport or bus station. We are asking all Diocesan and local ECWs to contribute to this ministry by supporting the Center's Amazon wish list. Visit the Plaza de Paz Amazon wish list here. Please consider making a purchase from this wish list that will be shipped directly to Plaza de Paz. Make sure when you make your purchase that you change the shipping address to the center's address, which will appear on the screen. It's just that easy! You can learn more about the ministry here.

  • NECW Grants
The National ECW offers grants each year. Learn about the grants and download applications here.
*Please note -- you'll need to scroll down past the donations section of that page to find information about the grants.

  • Triennial Planning
Plans are underway for the 2024 Triennial in Louisville, Kentucky, June 23-28, 2024. A Distinguished Woman luncheon is being planned.

  • Annual Province V ECW Meeting
Our next Annual Province V ECW meeting will be in the Diocese of Northern Indiana, June 2-4, 2023.

  • Next Board Meeting
The NECW board will meet in Chicago, May 4-8, 2024.

  • Sign up for weekly news blast
The ECW Women in Action news blast goes out every Saturday morning via email. You are encouraged to send articles, announcements, and pictures to [email protected].

  • Looking for past issues of Communique
John Wilkerson, webmaster for NECW, is looking for issues of the newsletter that date back to 2009 and earlier. If you have any issues you could donate, please contact John at [email protected]

We believe in a loving, life-giving and liberating God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe God loves you -- no exceptions!

We invite you to be a part of our faith journey.

Approximately 10,000 people throughout Eastern and Central Missouri find their faith home with us. About three-quarters of our members are in the metro St. Louis area, but our diocese reaches much farther than St. Louis. You will find more than 40 Episcopal churches, missions and faith communities as far north as Kirksville, as far west as Columbia, and as far south as Poplar Bluff (and many points in between).

If you are looking for a church home or a just a faith community to visit, we invite you to explore The Episcopal Diocese of Missouri.
