March 22: Wednesday in the Fourth Week of Lent
Read
Isaiah 49:8-15 | Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the Lord has comforted his people, and will have compassion on his suffering ones.
Pray
Holy Wisdom,
You pour out in abundance grace upon grace,
You lavish the creation with extravagant love,
You scatter abroad constellations of radiant joy.
In all the many doings that distract and distort.
Reveal to us the blessing and beauty of the overlooked,
the overshadowed, and the overburdened;
that in grace, love, and joy we may delight in all your marvelous works and dwell in your infinite presence today and always. Amen.
Reflect
“My life flows on in endless song, above earth’s lamentation. I catch the sweet, though far-off hymn that hails a new creation.[1]”
I grew up singing. From as early as I can remember there was music in our house, mainly from my grandmother. She loved to sing. She began and ended her day with a song on her lips. Those songs captured the longings of the heart that simple words could not.
The creation sings. The unlooked gift of the symphony of creation move all about us. God has set in motion a harmony and melody that invites unto into an eternal song. How can we keep from singing?
Do
Listen to music that makes you happy. Dance.
