March 20: Monday in the Fourth Week of Lent
Read
Isaiah 65:17–25 | The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, the lion shall eat straw like the ox; but the serpent -- its food shall be dust! They shall not hurt or destroy on all my holy mountain, says the Lord.
Pray
O Holy and Eternal One,
Before the trees were clothed in splendor
or the mountains were rooted in wisdom. You were there.
Before the birds composed a song
or the ants delight in dance. You were there.
Before the flower sought the sun
or the river rested in its bed. You were there.
Give us grace to know deep within our being, that you are there in the #mountain highs and the valley lows, leading us, luring us, loving us, closer to your heart. O God, you are always there. Amen.
Reflect
Where do you experience a profound peace?
We don’t often think of peace as an internal force. Peace in our culture is about a cessation of war, an external factor. But throughout Scripture God continually calls the people to finding an internal pilgrimage towards peace. Inner peace is the foundation for communal peace.
When we are at one with ourselves, we can then be prepared to be at peace with another. Perhaps during this Lenten season we may live the words, “Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.[1]”
Do
Create a space in your home dedicated to meditation and inner peace.
