Making Connections at the Big Provincial Gathering

Seven members from the Diocese of Missouri came together with Episcopalians from throughout Province V for the Big Provincial Gathering, April 28-30, 2022. St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in South Bend, Indiana, hosted the event, which included informative presentations, lots of useful workshops, along with time for worship and fellowship.

Those attending from our diocese included:

  • Michael Booker from St. Francis in Eureka
  • Betty Bowersox from Grace Church in Kirkwood
  • Adrienne Dillon from All Saints & Ascension in Northwoods
  • The Rev. Annette Joseph from Christ Church in Cape Girardeau and St. Paul's in Sikeston
  • Sue Rehkopf from St. John's in Eolia and the Diocesan Staff
  • Joshua Smith from Christ Church in Cape Girardeau
  • Parker Williams from Holy Cross in Poplar Bluff

The Rev. Annette Joseph offers this reflection on the event:

Connections. It is what we have been yearning for and The Big Provincial Gathering was just that. A place where people could connect with one another and hear they are not navigating the same waters alone. A place to connect with Creation Care people, lay ministries, trainings for Dismantling Racism and Suicide prevention, and just singing together again! It was so nice to talk and meet people outside of our own area and context. It is this little thing of connection which makes a big difference. I was delighted to coach Bishop Jennifer Baskerville-Burrows in front of 200 of our friends, and boy, what a crowd of accountability partners were there. A new connection in meeting Brian Sellers Peterson of Good News Gardens. An old connection with friends from The Leadership Coaching Project, who we have only seen on zoom screen, so meeting in person was a treat! What a blessing to be able to drink from the one cup at communion! These were just some of the highlights because there were so many different workshops you just couldn't go to them all. If you want to connect with the wider church this is a great event to attend.
