The Episcopal Church of St. Michael & St. George in Clayton invites all to a spring concert by the Legend Singers on Sunday, May 28 at 5 p.m.
The Legend Singers was founded to perform and preserve the music and performance practices of African Americans. The group is the longest continuously performing African American choral group in the nation. Their music will move you!
Founded in 1940, the original ensemble consisted of students in the Sumner High School A cappella Choir. Over the years, the group has carried on the legacy of its founder, Dr. Kenneth Brown Billups, by performing music of our foremost African American composers and arrangers; indigenous music of the African American Folk Genre; Spirituals; Art Songs; Jazz; and arrangements that depict the African American idiom in music.
The Episcopal Church of St. Michael & St. George is located at 6345 Wydown Blvd. in Clayton.
