Legend Singers Concert: May 15

You are invited to attend a spring concert by the Legend Singers Choral Ensemble, one of the oldest African American choirs in the country. The ensemble was founded in 1940 by the renowned educator, composer and Choral Director, Dr. Kenneth Brown Billups. This original ensemble consisted of students in the Sumner High School A cappella Choir.
Over the years, the group has carried on the legacy of Dr. Billups by performing music of our foremost African American Composers and arrangers, indigenous music of the African American Folk Genre, Spirituals, Art Songs, Jazz and arrangements that depict the African American idiom in music.
When: Sunday, May 15, 5:00 p.m.
Where: The Episcopal Church of St. Michael and St. George, 6345 Wydown Blvd., Clayton
There is no charge for this event, but registration is requested to assist with planning.
A reception with light refreshments will follow the performance.
