Lecture Series: Essential Baptism

Wednesday, September 27, 2023, 9:00 AM
The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, invites all to a special lecture series "Essential Baptism," with the Rev. Canon Dr. Lizette Larson-Miller. The series will explore fundamental questions surrounding baptism, sacramental initiation, and eschatological belonging.
The event takes place Wednesday, Sept. 27 and consists of three lectures on campus in Guerry Auditorium and online at the following times:
- 9 a.m.: Is Baptism Essential?
- 1 p.m.: Sacramental Initiation
- 3 p.m.: Eschatological Belonging
Hosted by the School of Theology, the lectures will be held in Guerry Auditorium on the campus of the University of the South beginning at 9 a.m. The series is free and open to the public. All are welcome and encouraged to attend on campus or via livestream webinar.
The lectures are the cornerstone of a two-day Annual Lecture & Homecoming event which takes place on campus Sept. 26-28. The two-day event welcomes all who are interested in attending—not just School of Theology alumni—and includes a range of workshops for continuing education hours, meals, a semi-formal dinner banquet, and other organized activities.
