Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, by Matthew Desmond

Matthew Desmond is a Pulitzer Prize winning author who writes from a sociological perspective on the loss and recovery of home. He writes with the conviction that eviction is a cause of poverty and is not just a condition or symptom of poverty. The stories are emotional and real; they include two main characters throughout, a landlord and a man who runs a trailer park.
As a clergy person who has done urban ministry for more than half my vocation I commend this to you in the interesting and often mean times we are traversing and living with our most vulnerable populations.
