Evening Prayer with The Order of St. Francis
by Br. Franklin Kline, OP
Members of Religious Orders and Communities in the Diocese of Missouri gathered virtually for Prayer and Fellowship on Saturday, June 18, 2022. Members of The Society of St. Francis, Third Order offered a beautiful Evening Prayer in the Franciscan Tradition celebrating the Franciscan Vocations of fellow Franciscan Friars of The Order of St. Francis, Br. David Wigger, Br. Brian Sadler and Br. Sam Kincade, who each made a significant advance in their commitment to The Consecrated Life, Br. David receiving the habit as a Novice, Br. Brian making his First Profession and Br. Sam a renewal of Profession.

Often termed “The New Monastics,” they are lay and ordained, married or single, and are primarily dispersed, living and ministering in their respective dioceses and parishes. They are consecrated under religious promises or vows and a Rule of Life. Most Lay members also follow secular careers. All in the Diocese who are members of religious orders and communities that live under Promises or Vows and follow a Religious Rule of Life are also warmly invited to join these gatherings. Also welcome are any who may be interested in learning more about the various forms of the Religious Life in the Episcopal / Anglican tradition.
Upcoming gatherings are Friday, August 5 at Christ Church Cathedral for The Profession Mass at the Annual Chapter of The Anglican Order of Preachers (Dominicans), and October 8, Traditional Service for the Transitus of St. Francis.
