Be a Part of the Bishop's Easter Vigil Service
Wanted: Children and youth to be a part of the Bishop's Easter Vigil service!
Bishop Deon has put together a very creative Easter Vigil service, which will be pre-recorded and streamed on Saturday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m.
We are looking for children and youth from throughout the diocese to do a simple recording (with parents' permission and assistance, of course).
Instructions to shoot the video:
1. Hold your camera / phone in landscape position (sideways; not up and down).
2. Lighting should be bright enough to clearly see the child, but not super-bright (this service takes place at sunset).
3. Position the child so you have a shot from the waist and up. Be close enough that we can clearly see their face and hear their voice.
4. The child will be (carefully!) holding a lit candle, so that it shows in the picture, but not in front of their face. Any type or size of candle will be fine!
5. Begin recording, and wait 10 seconds before the child begins speaking (for padding).
6. The child says, "The light of Christ."
7. Hold the shot with the child and the lit candle for 10 seconds (no sound).
8. The child says, "Thanks be to God."
9. Hold the shot with the child and the lit candle for another 10 seconds (no sound).
10. Have the child (carefully) blow out the candle.
11. Hold the shot with the child with the extinguished candle for another 10 seconds (no sound).
12. End recording.
Instructions to submit the video:
1. Click on this link to the 2021 Easter Vigil Dropbox file:
https://www.dropbox.com/
2. Click to add your video from your files, or just drag and drop them into the box.
3. Wait for your video to upload.
4. That's it!
We need these videos no later than Monday, March 22.
If you have any questions, please contact Janis Greenbaum.
Thank you for being a part of Bishop Deon's special project!
The Easter Vigil Service will be streamed from Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. You can watch on the home page of the diocesan website, the diocesan Facebook page, or the diocesan YouTube channel.
