Social Justice"I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."(John 13:34-35) We continue to explore and try to live out of a theology of social justice in this community. We believe that God accepts and loves us as we are. As a christian community, we work to accept and love each other in that same way. In the midst of this, we recognize that there are individuals and groups that are NOT loved and accepted by society, family, friends, and even the church. Our commitment to social change is focused on offering relationships which extend Christ's love and acceptance to those individuals. This theology is lived out in our pastoral care ministry to residents living with AIDS at Doorways, in a tutoring program to kids in juvenille detention, in summer urban ministry internships in St. Louis, and in trying to educate ourselves and act on the political and economic systems of injustice which are often the root causes of the issues we are working to address.
