Youth Worker Networking

Join the Yahoo List of Episcopalians working with Youth in Missouri

David Flentje, outgoing chair of the Council Mission Group for Youth and Campus Ministries, established an e-list for Youth workers in The Episcopal Diocese of Missouri on Yahoo.

This is where people type in questions like "Where are you going on your mission trip next year?" "What's your best idea for studying the Psalms with teens?" "How do you talk about suicide in your group?" "Who is the best contact person at Delmo Housing for a service project?"

All of us know way more than one of us. The combined experience of people on this list usually fleshes out great questions and answers, all contributing to our doing a better job of seeking and serving Jesus in the midst of these fine youth.

To subscribe to the list, please send your email address to David. He will send you information about getting hooked up. Find him at dflentje@swbell.net.

Youth Workers Can Also Meet Face to Face!

Starting in October, folks involved in leading youth programs in the local congregations will meet monthly. We've done this before, but due to loads of turnover our numbers dwindled. (Supporting the statistic that the average shelf-life of a youth worker is 18 months. Sigh.)

Now, with the hiring of a priest and three youth workers all responsible for youth ministries (yea!) in the St. Louis metropolitan area, we have a critical mass again. We spend this time-sharing ideas and resources, praying, and listening carefully for what God is doing in this new generation.

We'll e-mail around and figure out the best time and place. Depending on who can participate, we will likely do what worked before, and meet around 7:30 in the morning on an assigned day (3rd Tuesday of the month, for example) at the Starbucks in the Galleria. Please email me at heidic@missouri.anglican.org, or on the Yahoo group, and let me know what will work best for you.
