HAPPENING is a weekend about discovering Christianity in a whole new way. It is designed and led by teenagers and offered to teenagers. The weekend is spent in a relaxed, fun, informal, safe environment where you can share your faith in a Christian atmosphere. A young person who acts as "Rector" leads the weekend with the help of clergy and a staff of mostly young people.

• Is Christianity relevant to youth today?
• Can it penetrate the many areas of school life?
• Can it transform the world and keep up with changing times?

The HAPPENING movement thinks so! It does not propose a new type of spirituality, but provides a method through which one's spirituality may be developed, nourished, lived and shared in fellowship with Christians willing to dedicate their lives to God in an ongoing manner.

HAPPENING encourages participants in one's own local congregation and youth program. It also challenges participants to relate their Christian faith to their world.

The format of the weekend includes thought provoking and challenging talks given by members of the staff and clergy. After each talk, the opportunity is given for questions and discussion in small groups. The sacraments of the church also play an integral part throughout the weekend.

HAPPENING is sponsored by the Episcopal Church. We will be celebrating Eucharist and some of the sacraments according to the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer. We welcome and encourage participation of young people from other denominations, with no expectations that anyone join the Episcopal Church. We encourage people to live fuller Christian lives in their respective denominations.

HAPPENING weekends are open to high school students and to adults.

The HAPPENING weekend begins Friday evening at 6:00 pm and ends Sunday at 5:00 pm. Applicants agree to participate in the entire event.
