Emergency Request for flood victims, sandbagging
Dear Friend and Prospective Community Volunteer,
We encourage you to recruit your congregations, friends and colleagues to help in this effort.
St. Louis is in desperate need of volunteers. Many have called asking where they can help. If you have any questions please contact Mandy Ellis at 314-803-7606 who will be at one of the sites mentioned below.
Our Community needs help in the following areas:
1. The Valley Park School has just requested volunteers to assist them with sandbagging.
Vance Rd. is closed but the school entrance, Main Street, is before the flood gates. You should be able to get in. Everyone is meeting at the school's administration office from now until 7pm tonight. Efforts will begin again bright and early tomorrow morning and go throughout the day/
The address is 356 Meramec Station Rd. Valley Park, MO 63088. Everyone is meeting at the administration office close to the high school.
2. The City of Fenton has sandbagging efforts in old downtown. Please park your car at the Big Lots parking lot and you will be shuttled to the appropriate location. The city of Fenton is providing refreshments for all the volunteers.
3. The City of Pacific is in desperate need as well. The command post phone number is 636-257-8165. Please call for directions.
If you know anyone in need of a shelter here are the listings for the shelters that the Red Cross has opened in the St. Louis region..
Shelters are open for flood victims 3/20/2008. Shelters are available for residents of the Metro region displaced by flooding.
The American Red Cross opened two 24-hour shelters Wednesday.
• In St. Louis County: Twin Oaks Presbyterian Church, 1230 Big Bend Road in Ballwin.
• In Jefferson County: Northwest High School, 6005 Cedar Hill Road in Cedar Hill.
The Red Cross also is supporting a shelter in Franklin County at Riverbend School, 2085 Highway N in Pacific.
