ShowMe St Louis (KSDK-TV) profiles Strings Attached at St. Stephen’s in Ferguson

As of late, St. Stephens Church is Ferguson is making a lot of noise. “St. Stephens the Church is like a lot of these churches that are having a hard time growing,” said Steve Lawler. Inspiration for Episcopal priest Steve Lawler to start a new page. “We realized the traditional arts community and cultural community in St. Louis doesn’t always serve North County.”

And realizing the power of music, Lawler started a guitar program open to children and young adults. “This is really our attempt to put the guitar and music lesson and all of that in the hands of kids who might not be able to have this opportunity.”

Ashes to Go: Taking Liturgy into the Streets

This year, Ashes to Go will be available at the corner of Grand & Arsenal in south St. Louis City from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Ashes-to-Go is an ecumenical, short, Ash Wednesday service with imposition of ashes held on the corner of Grand and Arsenal streets in St. Louis. Now in its fourth year, clergy and laity from St. John’s Episcopal Church-Tower Grove participate. “South Grand neighborhood in the City of St. Louis is a perfect place to bring church to the streets,” says the Rev. Teresa Danieley, rector at St. John’s-Tower Grove. (more…)
