2009 Habitat Blitz today and three Saturdays in August (2009)

We’ve been scheduled for four workdays:  Friday, July 10 (which is a blitz day, meaning we need lots of people), and three Saturdays:  Aug. 22, Aug. 29, and Oct. 3. This year we are not assigning specific parishes to specific work days.    -Anne Hennig for EHFHP

Tuesday, July 7th.

The church or at least a significant portion of it has gathered in Southern California.  There are two main hotels used by convention, and the folks from Missouri are in the Hilton, a massive place with around 1,300 rooms.  All the deputies arrived safely with a few minor delays. (more…)

AFRECS Exhibit booth to celebrate the Missouri-Lui partnership on July 15 in Anaheim (2009)

The Companion Diocese Committee (especially Sandy Coburn & Debbie Smith) have been working hard for several months to collaborate with AFRECS, the American Friends of the Episcopal Church in Sudan, to create display materials that highlight our relationship with the Diocese of Lui, Sudan. Our gathering every three years at General Convention is a powerful time to share knowledge and enthusiasm about our partnerships; in addition to the Bishops and diocesan deputations, attendees at the ECW Triennial, the Anaheim convention hall will be filled with people and organizations representing the work large and small of the church. AFRECS will have booth #357 in the exhibit hall during General Convention. (more…)

While the fallout from the worldwide financial crisis continues to reverberate, there is a unique opportunity to question the pre-existing concepts of wealth, consumerism, and capitalism in building a new economy, one that is based on sustainability and social justice. In conjunction with Trinity Institute’s annual theological conference, which will address Building an Ethical Economy: Theology and the Marketplace in January 2010, Trinity Church Museum will present an international documentary photography exhibition that will capture this moment of economic, social, and spiritual change. Traveling to Triennial, the 2009 Convention of ECW (2009)

Sometimes the story of the Episcopal Church Women, their Triennial meeting, and our diocesan participation gets lost in the time leading up to General Convention.

This year Triennial convenes in Anaheim from July 8-17 with the convention theme of “Grow in Grace.” There are 45 workshops over the ten days, “designed to educate and enrich women’s lives in the areas of Leadership, Social Justice and Spirituality.” (more…)
