Application needed by August 27, 2010. Application form is available online as a DOC or PDF file.
The next mission to Lui is slated for November 2010. It will be a nine-member working group with missioners from the Diocese of Missouri, Blackmore Vale in Salisbury, England, and Lund Diocese in the Church of Sweden. The team will be following up on administrative training done in November 2009, seeing projects such as the grinding mill and wells, and continuing conversations about agriculture and the diocesan center, to which we have committed our fundraising efforts.
Because of the nature of this particular mission, there is one slot open on the team, and that is for a health care professional. We are seeking a nurse or doctor, or possibly an EMT or other professional, who could not only visit the hospital in Lui and consult with its personnel but who could also monitor the health of team members and respond to any health care needs while the team is in Lui.
Probable inclusive travel dates are November 1 or 2 through November 13 or 14. Approximate cost of the trip is $3000, and missioners are encouraged to seek financial support from their parishes and others.
For more information, or if you have already been to Lui, want to go back, and fit this description, please contact Debbie Smith at dlmsmith@gmail.com. If you have not been to Lui before but fit the description and want to go in November, please fill out the application and send it and the recommendation letter to Beth Felice by August 27th.
