ESM Guest Lectures in Old Testament: McCann, Bondreau, Bracke (2009)

The Episcopal School for Ministry invites you to three lectures, incorporated in the Old Testament class this semester. Guest lecturers speak Saturdays of the term, from 1-2:30 pm, in Room 101 of the Press Building at Eden Seminary.

J. Clinton McCann, the guest lecturer September 26th from 1-2:30, is the Evangelical Professor
of Biblical Interpretation at Eden Theological Seminary, teaching Old Testament and Hebrew. Clint is the author of a number of books as well as the “Psalms” entry in the New Interpreter’s Bible and the commentary on Judges for the Interpretation series. His time will be an exploration of some of the issues in current biblical scholarship, especially as they involve the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Old Testament.

George Boudreau, who will speak October 24th from 1-2:30 pm, is Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies (Hebrew Scriptures) at Aquinas Institute of Theology. George takes a particular interest in liberation theology and how “reading in front of the text” opens us to new possibilities in understanding the bible. He will engage in a conversation about the monarchy and early prophets.

John Bracke, the speaker December 5th from 1-2:30pm, is the Martha McCall Egan Professor of Biblical Studies at Eden Theological Seminary. John is skilled and experienced in helping new students of the Old Testament become familiar with the many issues currently being addressed by biblical scholars. He has written commentaries on Jeremiah and Lamentations and will be discussing the late prophets and wisdom literature.

The guest lecture portion of these ESM Saturdays is free and open to all diocesan members.
