Of Interest to Diocesan Photographers, Trinity Wall Street’s call for photos, “Picturing an Ethical Economy” (2009)

Trinity Church Museum to Present an International
Documentary Photography Exhibition, January 25–April 5, 2010

Call for Entries Ends October 15, 2009

While the fallout from the worldwide financial crisis continues to reverberate, there is a unique opportunity to question the pre-existing concepts of wealth, consumerism, and capitalism in building a new economy, one that is based on sustainability and social justice. In conjunction with Trinity Institute’s annual theological conference, which will address Building an Ethical Economy: Theology and the Marketplace in January 2010, Trinity Church Museum will present an international documentary photography exhibition that will capture this moment of economic, social, and spiritual change. The museum is currently seeking submissions for the exhibit “Picturing an Ethical Economy,” which asks photographers to consider: what would an ethical economy look like, is capitalism a belief system, how are we addressing our responsibilities to the future, what are the costs of pursuing a sustainable economy, and what are the costs to humanity if we don’t?

The photo exhibition is open to professional and serious amateur photographers from the U.S. and around the world, and will be on display at Trinity Church Museum in New York City and online at www.trinitywallstreet.org from January 25 through April 5, 2010. The exhibit will be judged by Bob Shamis, photography consultant and curator, and former curator of prints and photographs at the Museum of the City of New York.
