The Diocesan Convention is made up of active clergy canonically resident in the Diocese and lay delegates elected by the congregations. The Diocesan Convention meets annually (or more often in special circumstances) to:
- approve the Program Budget
- hear reports on the activities of the Diocese
- vote on resolutions that set the tone and direction of the Diocese
- elect at-large members of the Standing Committee and Diocesan Council and every three years lay and clergy deputies to the General Convention of the Episcopal Church
- elect a bishop when necessary

Upcoming convention dates and place are approved two years in advance by diocesan convention:
The 172nd Annual Meeting Convention will be Nov. 18-19, 2011, Christ Church Cathedral, St. Louis. It was announced that the Presiding Bishop plans to be in attendance.
The 173rd Annual Meeting of Convention will be Nov.16-17, 2012, in Columbia, Missouri.
Concluded Conventions
The 171st Annual Meeting of Convention took place Nov. 19-20, 2010 in St. Charles, Missouri.
The 170th Annual Meeting of Convention took place Nov. 20-21, 2009 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
